Why The AZECEEF?Â
The Early Childhood Workforce Index 2024 found that the median wage in early care and education falls below 97 percent of all other occupations.
Additionally, this research found that the difference between the median hourly wages of the ECE workforce in Arizona and those of elementary and middle school teachers is $12.98 to $26.74.
Lastly, this research points to Systemic inequality that exists within the ECE field, as the majority of the workforce is female, and often women of color
What is The AZECEEF?
The Arizona Early Childhood Educator's Equity Fund has several components:
Those who live within Arizona making over $250,000 a year would be subject to a taxÂ
This revenue would allow for the fund's existence and a sustainable method of funding
The thousands of Early Childhood Educators working outside of the public school districts within the state would be able to access the fundingÂ
Educators who hold a degree comparable to that of their public school colleagues would then work with their employer to access the funds

Employers would need to opt into participating in the Arizona Early Childhood Educator's Equity fund
Once qualifications are met, funding is available in the form of a grant
Increase in Workforce
When the ECE workforce is supported, parents can fulfil their jobs.Â

When parents are able to work, the economy is bolstered and our nation is more productive. Â

When Early Childhood Educators are supported, learning outcomes are better for children.Â
